Cyntech Unhelpful

On 29th Sept I ordered an HDMIPi Deluxe from Cyntech (an HD display designed to hold a Raspberry Pi behind the screen). After various delays I was informed on 18h Dec that it had been dispatched. I waited patiently until mid-day Christmas Eve and when it hadn't arrived I emailed Cyntech only to get a standard reply that they were closed for the Christmas period.

I got the same message when I emailed them this Monday and again today (Wednesday 31st Dec.) It's all right for some. Most companies are working hard on normal working days between Christmas and New Year but not Cyntech who, in my opinion, are exhibiting very poor customer relations.

As a result I have no way of knowing whether the company still really exists or whether the item was lost in the post or what. Therefore I have now opened a dispute through PayPal. It was fortunate I took the precaution of paying through PayPal as I have found them to be excellent at customer relations and they have never failed me yet when I have had the occasional dispute.

  1. John, I was very wary of PayPal and only started using them again a couple of years ago. They are fast and efficient and refunded me once within five days for something purchased on E-Bay that failed to materialize.

  2. I had the same experience. Eventually Cyntech stopped replying to my emails and have shut down their site. PayPal won't help because I made the order too long ago. Did you have any luck getting your money back?

    1. TRF-G: I am really sorry you had a similar experience. Fortunately for me they did refund though even that was a trial as they went about it the wrong way so the funds could be recalled if they so wished. I complained to PayPal who were very good and altered the repayment method so it couldn't be claimed back.

Assuming the payment was made using a Visa card - have you looked in to the possibility of getting your bank to make a charge back?

I did wonder if I was the only one having problems with Cyntech. This sort of experience puts me off dealing with any other start ups, except maybe for very cheap items.

BTW: this Cyntech site seems to be working, contact details here:
